  Bacterial food poisoning is conventionally restricted to acute gastroenteritis due to the presence of bacteria usually in large number of their toxins in food.

Types of food poisoning 

It may be divided into three types -

1. Infective type : 

   Infective doses of microorganisms are injected with food .Multiplication of bacteria  occurs in Vivo ,the typical example is food poisoning by Salmonella. Incubation period is generally 8- 24 hours. 

 2. Toxic type : 

    Performed bacterial toxin is injected with food as in staphylococcal           poisoning. Incubation period is short 2-6 hours.

 3. Intermediate type 

     Bacteria ingestred with food release toxins in the gut. incubation period is       6 to 12 hours.


 Causes of food poisoning 

  1.Infection - Food poisoning bactaria ,Protozoa , Virus

  2.Less hygeinic food 

  3.Dirty utensils

  4.Food eaten with dirty hands

  5.Food contaminated with smome miccrorganism and their toxins

  6.Meat and poultry food :when faeces of animal mixed in it
