There are also women aspiring to become the head in the Haryana municipal elections. There are 46 municipal elections to be held in the state and a total of 177 women have entered the electoral battle for the post of head. Voting is to be held on June 19.
There are 85 women candidates for 18 city council elections. The mayor post of 7 out of 18 city councils is reserved for women. Out of 7 SC is reserved for women. While in 28 municipalities, 9 are reserved for women, out of which three are reserved for SC women. For this, 92 women are in the electoral fray.
Haryana State Election Commissioner Dhanpat Singh informed that there are total 456 wards in 18 municipal councils. There are 185 candidates contesting for the post of President of these Municipal Councils, out of which 100 are men and 85 are women. Party wise, BJP has fielded 14 candidates, Aam Aadmi Party 18, INLD 15, BSP 10, LSP 4 and JJP 4 candidates for the post of Municipal Council President.
716 women for councilor in city council
Dhanpat Singh informed that 1792 candidates are in the fray for the municipal council members, out of which 1076 are men and 716 are women. Party wise, BJP has fielded 102, Aam Aadmi Party 47, INLD 16, BSP 1 candidate in the municipal council election.
518 women for councilor in municipality
In total 432 wards of 28 municipalities, 220 candidates are contesting for the post of president. Of these, 128 are males and 92 are females. BJP has fielded 19, Aam Aadmi Party 26, INLD 11, BSP 7 and JJP four candidates for the post of Municipality President.
A total of 1301 candidates are contesting for the municipal members, out of which 783 are males and 518 are females. For this BJP has given 34, Aam Aadmi Party 9, INLD 7 and BSP 1 candidate.
